IRC-Hispano and ChatHispano belong to the same history
ChatHispano’s homepage describes activity since 1996. The IRC-Hispano history compiled on Wikipedia explains its origin among internet access providers communicating through IRC. Preserving that connection matters: presenting IRC-Hispano and ChatHispano as unrelated networks would duplicate one historical trajectory.
Early infrastructure connected servers belonging to different providers. The historical account mentions Frame Relay when internet connectivity was expensive. The community developed around distributed conversation infrastructure predating current social applications.
1998, 2007 and 2009: organizational milestones
The historical source dates the Asociación IRC Hispano’s formation in Lleida to 1998 and identifies LleidaNet as a driving organization. It names Sisco Sapena as president until 2007 and Juan Puente as his successor that year. These are dated historical responsibilities, not a list of current owners.
The same account documents a July 2009 Telefónica agreement integrating Terra’s chat with the network. This explains how different entry portals could lead to a shared community. A webchat brand and the underlying IRC infrastructure name do not always identify independent networks.
The brand and operator currently published by the website
Wikipedia dates the Chat Hispano rebranding to 2015. Current responsibility should be checked against the website’s legal documentation: the terms reviewed, updated May 22, 2026, identify Chat Hispano SLU as the operator.
The association’s history and a company’s current legal identification should be read separately. An older overview does not automatically establish present ownership by a former founder or president. Current terms and official contact details are appropriate sources for operational questions.
Rooms, identity and access requirements
The site organizes rooms by location, ages and interests and publishes an access requirement of at least 18 years. It also provides management services, support and subscription options. These functions are described without assuming that every extra benefit accompanies free entry.
Registering an alias, managing a room and operating the network are different permissions. Help includes NiCK, CHaN, user and channel modes and access services. Before configuring a third-party bot or ZNC, confirm network and room policies.
Read documentation with its publication date
Its chat-client guide is dated April 25, 2016 and lists programs for Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile devices. This documents the range of access methods considered then; it does not prove that every older application is still maintained or appropriate for a current system.
Choose current access guidance and separately verify server, port and TLS when using a desktop client. HTTPS on the portal does not establish encryption on a different IRC port. Use official help for network-specific questions instead of copying another network’s settings.
