What can be documented about its history
netsplit.de has tracked SkyChatz since January 2020. This is the beginning of its crawler registration, not proof of the network’s founding date. The profile checked includes server observations and a MOTD dated May 2026.
The official website accessible at skychatz.org uses an mIRC-inspired interface, identifies irc.skychatz.org and organizes staff, services, rules and help information. The interface alone does not establish an active-person count or uptime guarantee.
The reviewed sources do not establish a historic founder or the legal owner of the whole network. We state this limitation instead of turning an administrator nick or crawler registration date into an invented biography.
Connection address and evidence for ports
The official website displays irc.skychatz.org as the general endpoint. netsplit.de’s server list records this hostname on encrypted port 6697 and plaintext port 6668. Its October 13, 2026 observation includes a connection to infinity.skychatz.org through the general TLS endpoint.
This is a public third-party observation, not a session tested by our systems or a promise of future availability. Use the general hostname, enable TLS and verify the certificate. Consult staff if behavior changes rather than weakening client security.
- Endpoint: irc.skychatz.org; TLS observed on 6697.
- Observed plaintext port: 6668. Do not confuse it with the TLS port.
- Observed node names: infinity.skychatz.org, matrix.skychatz.org and java.skychatz.org.
- A node named “matrix” does not establish an active bridge to the Matrix platform.
Published staff and how to verify them
The public profile reproduces Infinity’s server message and administrative information naming Zeel as a contact. That MOTD lists Zeel, Zul, Jeff, Fire, Gambit and SkyNight as staff. We identify these as published server roles, not legal names of owners.
The MOTD names #Help for technical assistance and #SkyChatz for general chat. It also mentions #Mamak for trivia and #ScFM for music and requests. Confirm current purpose and availability on the network; historical lists can change.
Verify identities through mechanisms recognized by the network. A visible nickname alone is not grounds to trust a password request. Check new instructions through official channels.
Bot rules and ZNC precautions
The observed MOTD prohibits flood, spam and advertising other networks. It states that bots are allowed only with +B or in specific channels. This is the observed server’s rule; check the current MOTD and staff guidance for your bot and channel.
Before ordering an Eggdrop or Telegram bridge, confirm permission, channel, message frequency and owner identity. A trivia channel does not authorize every bot, and a bouncer cannot assume unlimited connections from a shared IPv4 address.
ZNC credentials are separate from network credentials. For a bot we manage, recognition instructions are delivered after payment confirmation and setup. Acceptance of a connection by SkyChatz remains a decision for its operators.
